Time-constrained Fault Tolerant X-by-wire Systems

چکیده
This paper presents a software-based approach to the problem of distributed actuator failure diagnosis under resource and deadline constraints in fly-by-wire systems using comparison of actuator behaviour and corresponding mathematical model. (2k+1) replicated control and diagnosis tasks are executed to tolerate k-faults in the control and diagnosis functions. The proposed method has been evaluated through simulation based on real data and has been compared with a single rate steer-by-wire (SBW) systems recently suggested by Kandasamy et al. [1].

High availability is essential to heterogeneous computer networks, which are the basis of many systems ranging from the Internet to fly-by-wire flight controls. Development of highly available systems, however, is constrained by ever shorter times to market and the availability of off-the-shelf hardware and software (see the “Examples” box). Consequently, the economic necessity of using commodi...
متن کاملA Fault-tolerant Architecture for Automotive Applications
Introduction One of the current trends in the automotive industry is the development of full-authority drive-by-wire (also known as X-by-Wire) systems and their future integration into vehicles [1]. These systems follow the same principles as fly-by-wire systems that are already successfully used in modern aircraft. They integrate functions like steering and braking into a distributed real-time...

Continuous demand for fuel efficiency mandate “Driveby-Wire” systems. The goal of Drive-by-Wire is to replace nearly every automotive hydraulic/mechanical system with electronics. Drive-by-Wire and active collision avoidance systems need fault tolerant networks with time triggered protocols, to guarantee deterministic latencies. CAN is an event triggered protocol which has features like high ba...
